Carteret celebrates Halloween with two events on Oct. 31: Annual Fall Fest & PBA Rag-A-Muffin Parade

Fall Fest features Trunk-or-Treat, Guess the Weight of the Giant Pumpkin Contest, pick-your-own pumpkin patch and much more family fun

CARTERET, NJ – Mayor Daniel J. Reiman and Carteret Borough Council are proud to present the annual Carteret Fall Festival right on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, at Carteret Park.

The Fall Fest is a long-standing tradition in Carteret held throughout the Mayor’s Administration.

“Carteret offers a variety of family-friendly events and festivals throughout the year,” Mayor Reiman said. “Fall Fest is among the best of them with free family activities that make the scenic autumn season even more fun.

“We also are proud to host our Annual Carteret Holiday Festival in December, Carteret Independence Day Festival in July, Latin Fest also in July, and our traditional Ethnic Day Festival in September,” the Mayor continued. “Carteret is truly a destination for families year-round.”

The Festival, which runs from noon to 3 p.m., will feature pumpkin picking, face painting, a moon bounce, cookies, candy, guess the weight of the giant pumpkin contest, prizes, DJ music, and Trunk- or-Treat.  To add a vehicle to the Trunk-or-Treat, email RecDept@Carteret.net.

Families are encouraged to dress up in costumes and participate in the Trunk-or-Treat, as well as the annual Rag-A-Muffin parade at sundown on Sullivan Field.

“Carteret’s Fall Festival is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, enjoy the festivities, and make lasting memories,” Council President Randy Krum said. “Families will be able to attend the festival and still have plenty of time to enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the evening.”

Reiman added, “We are also excited that the night closes out with the annual Rag-A-Muffin Parade on Sullivan Field, sponsored and hosted by Carteret PBA Local 47 and Honorary PBA. We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate the fall season together as a community.”

The PBA (Police Benevolent Association) Local 47 is the union representing the rank and file personnel of the Carteret Police Department.

“We thank the PBA and HPBA members for this fantastic annual event,” Mayor Reiman said.

The Rag-A-Muffin Parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on Sullivan Field within Carteret Park. Also sponsored by ShopRite and Lab X, the Rag-A-Muffin Parade will award prizes for best costumes and offer free candy and free bike raffles. For more parade info, email Pbalocal47@gmail.com.

“Rag-A-Muffin is a Carteret tradition that the PBA has organized for 45 years,” said Police Officer T.J. Kaminski, president of Local 47 for the past three years. “The PBA always has had a tremendous connection with the community, whether it’s our fishing derby, Easter egg hunt or Rag-A-Muffin. These are traditions that are cherished by the community. Carteret has the best police officers in New Jersey and the best members, and it’s our pleasure to serve the community.”
