Carteret Welcomes the Holiday Season with Annual Christmas Festival and Tree Lighting

Carteret, NJ – On December 11th and 12th, Mayor Dan Reiman will join with the Borough Council in hosting the town’s annual Charity Christmas Festival at the Carteret Park. The event is sponsored in conjunction with the Mayor’s Charity Trust Fund and the Borough’s Recreation Department.

This popular weekend of holiday festivities will be highlighted by the lighting of the town Christmas tree by the Mayor, at 7:00 pm Friday evening. This will be preceded by live holiday music performances and the arrival of Santa Claus. Winner for the Carteret’s annual Christmas House Decorating Contest will also be announced during the event.

The Charity Trust Fund is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, established to provide Carteret residents with a monetary resource for education, athletics, and health, among many other charitable causes. The Trust Fund was created with the understanding that these children are often high achievers with great potential, and who with the proper financial support could continue along their own paths to success. Since then, the Charity Trust Fund has raised funding towards scholarships, arts and culture, athletic programs, other charities, and a variety of programs and services that benefit residents of all ages.

“This is in fact two celebrations,” Mayor Reiman has stated. “Our Holiday Festival transforms Carteret Park into a winter wonderland, capturing the true spirit of the holidays for families and visitors with two days of lavish festivities. It is also our way, on behalf of the Children’s Charity Trust Fund, of giving back to the many that have supported it over the years, allowing for better education and quality of life standards for our youngsters, and ultimately a brighter future.”

The Carteret Fire Department will be joined by volunteers and career members of the emergency services in hosting a ride along for Santa Claus. Santa will ride atop the fire trucks while he and his helpers distribute candy canes on every street in the Borough from Monday, December 14 to Thursday, December 17. The ride along will take place at 6 pm each day and will follow the recycling district schedule. To check your recycling district, follow this link:
