Statement on passing of Sergeant Lawrence Craig

Carteret, NJ – “It is with sadness that I am sharing the following information with our Carteret Community. The Carteret Police Department has lost a dedicated officer with the passing of Sergeant Lawrence Craig who suffered an unrelated medical incident while on duty last night.  Sergeant Craig was a dedicated member of our police force for over 37 years who tirelessly devoted himself to serving the residents of our community. I have had the opportunity to work with Larry on a professional level for 16 years and have known him for close to 25 years.  Our condolences go out to his mother and children, to his extended family and friends and to his fellow officers and borough staff.  In his honor I have ordered that all flags at our municipal buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff and that mourning bunting be placed at the Borough Police Department where his photo is on display.”

His viewing will be held this Thursday 8/18 from 2-4 pm & 7-9pm  at Synowiecki Funeral Home on Carteret Ave.

There will be  9:30am mass at St Joseph’s Church Friday morning 8/19 with a procession to Clover Leaf Cemetery in Woodbridge following the mass. All are invited to attend the viewing or mass to show their respect and appreciation for his service.”
