Carteret Announces Summer Recreation Programs

Carteret, NJ – Expanding an already vibrant summer recreation program, Mayor Dan Reiman has announced several new additions to the summer calendar. From academic enrichment to sports training, the Borough’s Recreation Department now successfully holds events or activities 7 days a week.

“Summer is always a much-anticipated time of the year in Carteret, and our thriving recreation program is a major reason why,” Mayor Reiman said. “Young or old, there is something for each one of our residents to participate in. Our investments into the parks and recreation infrastructure continue to provide opportunities and benefits for local families.”

The Borough is bringing back many local favorites this year, as well as piloting several new programs. While residents and visitors may log on to the Borough’s web page for a full list of programs, some highlights are as follows:

Concerts by the Bay ~ Sundays at 7:00 pm, Waterfront Park
Concerts in the Park ~ Fridays at 7:00 pm, Carteret Park
Movies in the Park ~ Wednesdays/Saturdays at 8:30 pm, Carteret Park
Summer Lunches ~ Weekdays from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Carteret Public Library, Cornell Park, & Revival Center Church
Fun in the Parks ~ Weekdays from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
RWJ Summer Camp ~ Weekdays at 9:00 am, RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center
Summer Project Homework Help ~ 6/22 – 6/25 & 8/24 – 6/27 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm, Carteret Public Library
Summer Reading/Crafts ~ Weekdays all day, Carteret Public Library

“We strive to offer events and programs that will help families make memories,” added the Borough’s Director of Recreation Taqualla Lowman. “Even as many other towns are cutting back their recreation programs, we in Carteret will continue to do more with less.”
