Carteret, NJ – Performance Team (PT), a leading provider of ecommerce, distribution and transportation services to the retail, fashion, and automotive industries, has announced the opening of a new 540,000 square foot distribution center in Carteret, New Jersey, further expanding Performance Team’s East Coast presence.
The 540,000 square foot Class-A building will complement existing operations in PT’s Edison, NJ and Long Island, NY facilities. The new facility creatively uses the existing structure and includes an 80,000 square foot mezzanine as well as a pick loop and high speed sorter. The building will serve as a shipping center for one of PT’s growing retail customers and creates additional opportunities in port drayage, store delivery and vendor consolidation. “This is yet another step forward in growing our national footprint and our overall East Coast strategy,” said Craig Kaplan, Performance Team CEO. “PT understands that expanding our network will better enable us to support existing customers while also creating opportunities to find solutions for new customers.”
In preparation for the building’s opening, several of PT’s senior leaders have relocated to help launch the operation and ensure a smooth transition. Along with the existing employees, additional workforce has been recruited to join the PT Carteret operations. The facility is expected to employ approximately 800 associates at steady state.
