Carteret Rotary Club to Host Inaugural ‘Park to Pier’ Bicycle Classic

Carteret, NJ – The Carteret Rotary Club will host the first “Park to Pier” Carteret Bicycle Classic this Saturday, September 22nd . This new, annual, free event will see participants cycle from the starting point at Sullivan Field and Carteret Park to the finish line at Veterans Pier at Carteret Waterfront Park. All riders will receive an inaugural “Park to Pier” medal and t-shirt.
 
The event will also feature quick sprint races for all ages. Children 4 and under will participate in a “Hot Wheels Race” of 25 yards. Ages 5 to 6 will participate in a 100 Yard Island Race, as will ages 7 to 8. Ages 9 to 10, ages 11 to 12, and ages 13 to 15 will participate in a 200 Yard Island Race and ages 16 and older will race 300 yards.
 
Registration for all races begins at 9:30 am and the first race starts at 10:00 am. Helmets must be worn for all races and training wheels are permitted. Riders will be escorted by a Carteret Police Bicycle Patrol. A DJ will be on hand to make announcements and play music.
 
The Carteret Rotary Club of Carteret has been active in the Carteret community since 1963. The club provides scholarships for high school seniors, helps those in need, bringins Santa to elementary students, visits shut-ins at Christmas to bring toiletries and goodies, and provided free transportation for anyone needing help. The Carteret Rotary club meets every Tuesday at 12 pm at the Bus Stop Luncheonette at Carteret Shopping Center.
